Course Objectives:

This is the second year of a two-year IGCSE French course, designed to prepare students for the Edexcel IGCSE examination in summer 2026. The course will:

Develop Critical Language Skills: Enhance proficiency in reading, listening, speaking, and writing through interactive lessons and varied activities.
Reinforce Exam Readiness: Utilize an additional 30 minutes each week for practising exam skills, speaking practice, and working with past papers.
Build on Year 1 Foundations: Extend the knowledge and skills acquired in Year 1, covering advanced topics and grammar.
Prerequisites:

New students should have completed the Year 1 content or have equivalent knowledge.

Course Content:

The course builds upon Year 1 and includes the following topics:

Accidents and Illness
Life in the Town and Country
Holidays and Weather
The Environment
Grammar topics covered include:

Conditional and Pluperfect Tenses
Present Participle
Perfect Infinitive
Additional Pronouns
Teaching and Learning:

Lessons: 90 minute interactive lessons per week which incorporate a variety of activities such as:
PowerPoints
Reading and listening tasks
Role play
Team and individual games (e.g., noughts and crosses, dice talking, treasure hunts, pair work)
Skills Practised: All four language skills—reading, listening, speaking, and writing—are developed in lessons and through weekly homework and independant study.
Homework and Additional Study: Students are expected to complete weekly homework and engage in additional studies as needed.
Exam Preparation: The additional 30 minutes each week will focus on practising exam skills, speaking practice, and working with past papers to ensure thorough preparation for the Edexcel IGCSE French exam in summer 2026.
