This is Year 2 of a 2-year course that aims to prepare your child for the IGCSE Mathematics higher paper offered by the Edexcel exam board. This will allow them to obtain grades between level 4 to level 9. The course content will be completed this year so as to sit the exam in summer 2026. This class is 90mins.

In the course we will cover:

1: Numbers and the number system
2: Equations, formulae and identities
3: Sequences, functions and graphs
4: Geometry and trigonometry
5: Vectors and transformation geometry
6: Statistics and probability

The main resources utilised in the course are:

This course has been so designed so as not to go through a single textbook in a linear fashion. Purchasing of a textbook for the course is therefore not deemed necessary.

● Felt tips for poster designs of model question and answers
● Calculator
● Compass
● Protractor
● Ring-binder
● hole puncher
● Printer
● Ideally a touch screen device with a screen size of 10 inches or larger. This allows students to more easily participate in zoom classes using the annotate function when necessary.

Homework will be set and is an important part of the preparation process for getting students exam ready. The expectation will be for parents to timetable two further 45-minute time slots in the week for their children. One slot should be used to do the homework set and the other slot for general Maths revision of other topics previously covered.

Exam board and examination:
The IGCSE Mathematics exam by Edexcel is a well-designed specification that fairly assesses a students aptitude. The exam comprises two papers both of which are two hours in length. A calculator is permitted in both examinations. This booking does not include registration and sitting of the examination.
