Requirements:
• No pre-knowledge is required - enthusiasm is all you need!
• A PC or Mac is required
• No software is required in advance of the course (all software used in the course is free)

The course will cover an introduction to:

• Getting started in web development

• HTML
The basics including headers, formatting text, lists, images, tables etc

• CSS
Introduction to CSS covering essential topics like selectors, styling text and links, layout techniques (including Flexbox, floating, positioning, margins, and padding), and advanced features (TIME PERMITTING) such as pseudo-classes, gradients, shadows, and animations to build visually engaging and responsive web pages.

• WordPress
Beginner-friendly introduction to WordPress, guiding learners through installation, navigating the wp-admin dashboard, customizing themes, creating posts and pages with blocks, managing menus and plugins, and setting up contact forms for a functional website.

• JavaScript
Introduction to JavaScript such as accessing elements, responding to a click.

• Bootstrap
Introduction to Bootstrap, what it is and how it can be used.

• SEO – search engine optimisation
This course section introduces the fundamentals of SEO, covering key areas such as keyword research, content optimisation, on-page and off-page SEO, backlinks and local SEO.

• Web Hosting 101
This section provides a practical overview of web hosting, explaining domains, different hosting types, FTP/SFTP uploads, DNS and nameservers, domain transfers, local testing with hosts files, and website backups to equip learners with essential hosting and site management skills.

We will aim to cover 1 topic per lesson, with the other 4 lessons dedicated to practical applications.

There will be NO strict homework with this class, but task will be set and FUN can be had doing those tasks in preparation for the next lesson.
