This booking is for a comprehensive two-year A-level Maths course, designed for examination in 2027, following the Edexcel syllabus. The course is ideal for students aiming to deepen their mathematical understanding and enhance their analytical and problem-solving skills.

Entry Requirements:
You will need to have achieved at least a grade 7 in (i)GCSE Mathematics to be successful in this course. Please contact us to discuss otherwise.

Course Content:
A-level Maths is both enjoyable and challenging. It covers approximately two-thirds pure mathematics and one-third applied mathematics, including both mechanics and statistics.

Key Topics:
Pure Maths: Calculus, algebra, trigonometry, sequences and series, and more.
Applied Maths: Mechanics topics such as forces, motion, and energy; statistics topics including probability, data analysis, and hypothesis testing.

Teaching and Learning:
– Weekly Lessons: Two 1-hour online teaching sessions per week, held on Mondays and Tuesdays from 11:00-12:00, taught by Adam Belaon.
– Self-study: A minimum of 4 hours of additional study per week is recommended, with more depending on individual ability.
– Homework: Assigned weekly to be self-marked.
– Tests: Intermittent tests every 6 to 8 weeks, marked by the tutor if submitted on time.
– Online Lessons: Participation is strongly encouraged for collaborative problem-solving and a richer learning experience.

Assessment Structure:
Examinations must be booked with an exam centre approximately six months before the exams, in autumn 2026. The assessment comprises three two-hour exams: two pure maths; one applied maths.

Benefits of Studying A-level Maths:
– Respected Qualification: Highly regarded by universities and employers.
– Career Opportunities: Opens doors in fields such as engineering, physics, economics, computer science, and more.
– Skill Development: Enhances critical thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.

The Tutor:
The course is taught by Adam Belaon, a highly experienced tutor with over 20 years of teaching A-level Maths. He holds a first-class Maths degree from Queen Mary University of London and a PGCE teaching qualification.

Course Texts:
We will use Pearson Edexcel textbooks. Digital copies are available online for free, though hardback copies can be purchased. Solution banks for every textbook question are accessible on the Physics and Maths Tutor website.
