The final year of this course will prepare students for the OCR Latin GCSE examinations in May/June (2027), adhering to the J282F syllabus. Students wishing to join are expected to have already covered all topics in the Latin to GCSE Book 1 by John Taylor and Henry Cullen. The course will develop knowledge of the Defined Vocabulary List and understanding of complex sentence structures, whilst exploring Roman values and society through the study of two classical literature texts.
GCSE EXAM INFORMATION:
Language Paper
Written exam testing knowledge of vocabulary and grammar through translation and comprehension passages (J282/01 – 1hr30, worth 50 % of total GCSE)
Literature Papers
Prose Literature exam (J282/03 – 1hr written, worth 25% of total GCSE)
Verse Literature exam (J282/05 – 1hr written, worth 25% of total GCSE)
• J282/03 Prose Literature B set text:
Apuleius, Metamorphoses Book V, 21 (at Psyche relicta sola …) –25 (… herbis exposuit) and 26–27
• J282/05 Verse Literature B set text:
Virgil, Aeneid, 2.1–56, 195-253
