This is the second year of a two year course which aims to explore the principles of chemistry, including inorganic, physical, and organic chemistry, to prepare students for the Pearson Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry (4CH1) exams in the summer of 2027. It develops analytical, methodical, and problem-solving skills useful both in academia and everyday life, laying a strong foundation for A Level Chemistry.

Course Description:

This course delves into the behaviour of matter, covering inorganic, physical, and organic chemistry. It fosters skills in analysis, methodology, and problem-solving, applicable beyond the classroom and in understanding current events.

Students will acquire and apply knowledge, critically evaluate scientific information, appreciate the practical aspects of chemistry, and use relevant mathematical principles.

Course Content:

Topic 1 – Principles of Chemistry

States of matter
Elements, compounds and mixtures
Atomic structure
The Periodic Table
Chemical formulae, equations and calculations
