This is a fairly new iGCSE available for home educated candidates. The course will be covered in a year with exams in the Summer 2027.
Lessons will include theory, discussion, note making and practical activities.
Marine science looks at the biology, chemistry, geography and ecology of the marine environment. Topics include:
- understanding the role of tides and currents
- the chemistry of sea water
- studying a range of marine organisms
- the habitats and ecology of various ecosystems
- the impact of human activities on coastal and marine systems.
This course is most suited to students age 14+ with good study skills and at least KS3 maths, this intensive one-year course will prepare students for the exam in May 2027.
In addition to weekly lessons, there will be around 2 hours homework to be submitted the following session.
Students will need a copy of the textbook Cambridge International iGCSE Marine Science, published 2022, authors Matthew Parkin and Paul Roobottom.
