iGCSE Mathematics A (Edexcel – 9-1):
This course is designed for students approximately aged 14-16 and will introduce the iGCSE curriculum, ideal for those planning to take the iGCSE exam in 2027. The course aims to explore subjects interactively and practically, combining group work to discover key concepts in a collaborative and fun way with individual work for consolidation. Homework tasks will extend learning at home, and past exam questions will be used to consolidate understanding.
Entry Requirements:
There are no specific entry requirements for this course, but a keen interest in mathematics and a commitment to study are essential.
Course Content:
This engaging and comprehensive course will cover a range of topics necessary for iGCSE Mathematics.
Key Topics:
Percentage Increases and Decreases: Including repeated percentage change.
Trigonometry: Sine and Cosine Rule, and calculating the area of any triangle.
Ratio Problems: Tackling harder ratio problems.
Statistics: Creating and interpreting histograms and cumulative frequency graphs.
Calculus: Introduction to differentiation and rates of change.
Teaching and Learning:
Weekly Lessons: One-hour in-person teaching session per week, held on Mondays from 10:00 to 11:00.
Self-study: Additional study is required to be fully prepared for the examination.
Homework: Assigned regularly to reinforce class learning and to extend understanding at home.
Past Exam Questions: Utilised for consolidating learning.
Resources:
Investigations may be sourced from CAME Mathematics, MEP, and NRich Mathematics.
Exercises may come from Maths Genie, Corbett Maths, and other sources.
Required Equipment:
Please arrive ready to learn, equipped with the following:
2 pencils
Rubber (eraser)
Protractor
Ruler (with cm and mm)
Pair of compasses (for drawing circles)
Calculator (scientific calculator preferred but not essential)
Exercise books and worksheets (provided)
Access to a printer for homework would be helpful, though not essential.

£40.50 per month

This class is covered by a regular payment every month.

Subscription: A one off admin fee of £30 per family will be added to your first payment of each academic year.

Payments begin on 1st October 2025 for 8 months.* **
Payments are made on 1st of each month.

*Courses of 8 or 12 weeks are paid over 2 or 3 months respectively.
** A Level 2 year courses are paid over 12 consecutive months.
